Thimbleberry delight

How about this for a new comer to the quilting world?
This quilt was made by Lisbe` and it is her very first quilt!
No miniature either......70" x 81"
These are Thimbleberry fabrics, except for the sashing, which is a Kiwiana fabric and the border fabric is from Nancy Halvorsen's range: Tried and True.

Lisbe` asked me to do an open meander over the quilt, which I did using Maderia's Poly Neon...another lovely fuss free thread.

We look froward to seeing what other lovely quilts Lisbe` makes.

Hearts for Miners

Here in New Zealand there is a vibe of sadness sweeping the country....29 miners have been killed in a mine in Greymouth in the South Island.
At Shirley's blog she is collecting heart blocks to make into quilts to give the affected families.See the link below.
http://shirleygoodwin.blogspot.com/

I had started making some, but then thought it would be nice to send a finished quilt. So myself and few other quilting friends are going to make some blocks, then , me and  my elf  will piece the blocks together and i will quilt the top.
So if you want to send some blocks to me, please do!

Something if you are looking for some inspiration....http://with-heart-and-hands.blogspot.com/2009/02/free-heart-themed-patterns-quilt-blocks.html

simple quilting

This  sample quilt is made for The Counrty Yard
to show case this zippy fabric!
The fabric range is called "HAPPY" - by Me and my sister.
I'm sure this would suit say 6-12 year old girls?
In store is a cute bag made using the same fabric.

I did a simple cross hatch 2" apart using one of my favourite thread.....Signature variegated.

Christmas presents

Sue is a beginner to the patchwork world and I have been lucky enough to have her tops to quilt. The reason I say lucky is she does such neat work.
Here is what I did, Sue saw this in a book and thought it would look nice on this quilt...she was right!Very simple but most effective, just 1/2" straight stitching from the seam, no marking.i used a navy Maderia Polyneon thread...just one of mt favourite threads to use.

This is the other quilt sue gave me.All Bali's, cute pinwheels.Sue just wanted a all over loose stipple.I used a Poly Sheen Multi by Mettler.

Someone in Sue's family is going to be happy this Christmas.

Mother and Baby

Gold is what we have.(click away to see the sparkle)

When I opened the mail to find this quilt top I thought Wow!
Jane has yet again made a great job of a child's quilt, she has done the blanket stitch by hand.
I had fun with this quilt as you will see from this post and the previous two.
Jane also commissioned me to do this quilt and her first ever quilt pictured below.

Thank you Jane.

Elephant's..........

"The elephant's went two by two horah, horah".

I might add some gold thread as rays of the sun?

Pre historic creatures....

I had a problem with cropping this photo?
Dinosaurs, dragons and other creatures sure make a wee boy happy. This quilt was made by Marcelle for her son, I'm sure he will be happy to snuggle under it.
Thanks for another great quilt to work on.

Finished Quilt

sweet and soft for a baby. very simple quilting were the instructions given to me by the customer who made this.
So I used a Mettler Polyneon varigated thread...lovely soft yellow, pink and blues to cross hatch the nine patches. Then with my cream bobbin fill i did a loose stipple over the panel blocks, lastly I did  wandering  hearts on the border.

I really like the softness of these colours...just perfect for a new baby.

hearts and mini hexies

My hearts made for Myra ,Karen is making a special quilt for her friend Myra and needs help.I zipped these up in no time, can you help????

Ok maybe this is breaking the 'rules' but I saw someone else had posted hexies she had made her Stitch-Along-Friend...so I thought I would too...Cat this is all you are going to see from me!
But these hexagons are cute aren't they?

maverick stars?

after popping over to visit Jo and seeing her Maverick quilt...it made me pull out mine.I love what Jo has done, so deliciously scrappy, but I like how mine is evolving too.
What do you all think?I have a lot more stars and alternative nine patches.

Meow, Meow!

"Pussy cat, pussy cat, where have you been?"
"I've been to New Zealand to visit the quilter!"
And that she has!

This turning twenty quilt is all finished. The only request I had from Lois was to do a cat silhouette in the large blocks.

This quilt is 76" x 92" and my washing line is up as high as it will go, so I had to fold the top over!

I had fun with the border, just wanted to do something a bit different.

Thank you Lois!
